MUGHAL GARDEN DARASIKHO
Darashikoh garden, is located on the national highway in Bijbehara, Anantnag. The village lies at a distance of about 45 kilometers from Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir is known for scenic beauty, history and monuments.
Situated on banks of River Jhelum, Darashikoh garden was built in the 1640 AD by Dara Shikoh, who was the eldest son of emperor Shah ]ahan. Stretched over an area of 17.15 hectares, this garden used to serve as a camping ground for the Mughals on their journeys. Darashikoh garden is connected with Padshahi Garden over a bridge under Jhelum River. Beautiful and splendid, Darashikoh garden houses huge Chinar trees, green turf and striking flower beds, which offers a magnificent view. Set amidst nature, this garden also holds several fruit trees and central water canal. This picturesque garden bears resemblance to Shalimar Garden of Srinagar.
